Have biopsy proven, low-risk, localized prostate cancer and active in expectant management ?1 year.
Gleason score <6
Clinical stage T1c-T2a
Serum PSA <10ng/mL
A life expectancy greater than five years.
Able to swallow and retain oral medication
Able and willing to participate in the full three years of the study
No previous treatment for prostate cancer with any of the following,
Radiotherapy (external beam or brachytherapy) Chemotherapy
Hormonal therapy
Oral glucocorticoids
GnRH analogues
Duration of Study Study period will be a duration of three years, in which you will either receive the medication or placebo (sugar pill) in pill form once daily.
